History of the Cooperative: Permata Gayo Cooperative was registered on the 15th of March 2006. The purpose of the cooperative is to improve the sale of organic coffee and pass the benefits to its members, all of which are very small-scale coffee farmers. The 394 members live in six villages in the Permata Sub-district of Bener Meriah District. The office is located in Bandar Sub-district, about 45 minutes drive from Takengon city.
